A MOTHER whose six-month-old son survived being hit by a suburban train was in tears last night as she recalled letting go of his pram for a fraction of a second.Speaking on A Current Affair, Shweta Verma said she was about to jump when she realised her baby son Saurish was out of her reach after his pram rolled on a "slight slope".In security footage broadcast worldwide, the pram holding Saurish was shown disappearing off an Ashburton train station platform and under the incoming train.Ms Verma said she had wrapped her son in a blanket, strapped a safety harness around him and took a few moments to adjust her clothing as the train approached. Last night, Ms Verma showed small scratches on her son's nose and left cheek as the only physical effects of his miraculous escape on October 15.When asked if she would ever put the incident behind her, Ms Verma said: "Honestly, no."But she said she had to get over it for her son's sake, and she was taking him out in the pram because "life never stops €” we have to move on".Ms Verma said she knew he was alive when she heard him crying under the train."What I am telling my friends who have babies or who will have babies is be extra, extra, extra careful. Double-check everything."
